Welcome to Year 4

Meet Mr Kane

 Meet Mrs Boswell

Work for Yr3 going into Yr4 in September:

For the final week of school, we would like you to complete some work that will help us get to know you.

Please feel free to email any completed work to your new class teacher.

Monday – Watch the Power Point from your new teacher and complete the task set at the end. You could write a letter or make a Power Point all about yourself.

Tuesday – We would really love to get to know you all so please draw or paint a self-portrait.  This will help us know who is who!

Wednesday - Write a letter to someone in Year 2 about what to expect in Year 3. What things did you do? Think about your trips and topics you covered. Tell them how lovely the teachers are!  Let them know what to expect as they come into Key Stage 2.

Thursday – Make a poster to tell us about what you have been doing during lock down.  Maybe you have been baking, learning an instrument, playing games in the garden, reading books, watching movies.  We would love to hear all about it.  You could make a Power Point, draw a poster, write a letter.  You decide.

Friday – In Year 4 we will be learning ALL of our times tables.  To be ready for this we would like you to practice your times tables.  You could write them all out, make them into a poster, have someone test you on them or complete some online times tables games.

We have an extra Maths activity for you to complete this week if you wish.

Year 4 Information

Welcome to the class page for Year 4, here you will find out some information about timetable and class expectations.

In Year 4 you will receive the following homework; we expect homework to be completed on time.

  • Reading – We expect all children to read to an adult a minimum of 3 times a week.  We then ask for a comment from yourself when you have heard your child read. Year 4 staff will check reading records regularly to make sure it is happening.
  • Times table practice - This should again be happening regularly at home to make sure children are confident with times tables. Times table Rockstars passwords are in the back of the children’s reading records!
  • Spellings will be given weekly and some time will be spent in class learning them. These will be tested on either Thursday or Friday.  Please help your child to learn their spellings as well as understand the meaning of the words.
  • Homework –Children will bring home a homework sheet with a choice of activities.  An activity needs to be completed every week and handed in on Thursday.

General reminders

  • Please ensure all children have appropriate footwear for woodland warriors in school. We will have Woodland Warriors on Tuesday afternoons – children will need wellies if possible as it can get muddy.  They will be provided with water proofs to go over their uniform so they will not need any special clothing.
  • Water bottles: Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle for the classroom, containing water only.
