During their time at St Joseph’s, your child will have the opportunity to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. These are very special moments in your child’s journey in faith and one that as a school we feel privileged to be able to share with you and your child. If you have any questions or would like any more information about the Sacramental Preparation program, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Reconciliation

First Holy Communion

Jesus said to his disciples, “Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come” (Mark.13:33-37)

Dear Children of St Joseph’s Primary School.

These words come from the Gospel reading for the first Sunday of Advent. In the Gospel reading, Jesus tells the story of a man travelling on a journey and his household must stay alert and be prepared to receive him on his return. You too are like the members of the household waiting to receive Jesus when he comes to you in first Holy Communion. Waiting can be very difficult at times, especially when you do not know exactly when Jesus will come to you. Everything is delayed because of this virus which has caused so many problems and affected so many in our community. Jesus may be delayed on his journey to you and arrive when you least expect him. You must not be distracted and forget that Jesus will come to you and we must all remain prepared to receive him at that time. Your families and your teachers are helping you to prepare for the day when you will receive Jesus in first Holy Communion. You must also continue to prepare yourselves. Continue to learn about Jesus so that he is not a stranger to you when he comes. Use the resources on the school website – they are an excellent way to help you. Continue to pray that you will be ready to receive Jesus and for the courage to keep Jesus close to you for ever. It is very difficult for your priest to celebrate Mass with you in church or in school at the moment, but be assured that I am with you, supporting you, and we will celebrate Mass together soon.

With Kind regards

Yours in Christ,

Fr Amal.
