Nursery Enrolment and Induction

Welcome to St. Joseph's Catholic Pre-School

At St. Joseph's Catholic Pre-School, we provide a happy, caring and nurturing environment where children aged 2 to 4 years can learn, grow and thrive.

We are open during term time from 8.45am to 3:15pm. We offer flexible sessions to suit family needs, accept Nursery Education Funding, and support payments through the Government's Tax-Free Childcare scheme, which you can also use to access our school breakfast club (7.30am – 8.45am) and after school club (3pm-6pm).

Our experienced and qualified staff are passionate about giving every child the very best start to their learning journey. We work hard to ensure that all children feel safe, valued and confident, helping them to develop both socially and emotionally while having fun every day.

A Love of Learning Through Play

We believe that children learn best through play, exploration and meaningful experiences. Our indoor and outdoor environments provide exciting opportunities for children to discover, create, investigate and develop new skills.

Each week, children enjoy visits to our Little Leaves outdoor learning site, where they can explore nature, experience the changing seasons and develop an appreciation for the natural world.

We know that children flourish when they feel secure and supported. That's why each child has a dedicated Key Person who helps them settle, build relationships and make progress. We also work closely with families through parent meetings and Tapestry, our online learning journal, where parents can share in their child's experiences and achievements.

Our Rooms

Acorn Room (2-Year-Olds)

Our Acorn Room provides a gentle introduction to pre-school life for our youngest children.

The room offers a safe, nurturing environment where children can build confidence, develop language skills and begin forming friendships and independence. Children enjoy exploring a range of exciting activities both indoors and outdoors, including our dedicated outdoor area designed to support physical development and active play.

Oak Room (3 and 4-Year-Olds)

Our Oak Room is a vibrant and engaging learning environment for our older children.

Through carefully planned activities and opportunities for independent exploration, children develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning. Activities are tailored to meet each child's individual needs, helping them prepare for a smooth and successful transition to school.

Learning and Development

At St. Joseph's Catholic Pre-School, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and development matters guidance to drive our curriculum.

Children learn through seven areas of development which help them grow into confident, capable learners.

Part of the School Community

Children in Nursery & Pre-School benefit from being part of the wider St. Joseph's school community. They have access to the school's grounds and facilities, take part in PE sessions in the hall, enjoy outdoor learning opportunities, and become familiar with the school environment before they move on to Reception.

Funding and Fees

Early Years funding can be used flexibly across all the sessions in preschool. Sessions are only paid for when parents request more hours than their 15 hours or 30 hours funding. Invoices are emailed monthly.

For example: If your child has 30 hours funding and you would like your child to attend from Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.15pm this would be 32.5 hours per week. You would be invoiced for 5 x Midday sessions = £20 per week.

However: If your child has 30 hours funding and you choose to book Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 3.15pm and Friday morning 8.45am to 11.45am, this is 29 hours per week, all the sessions would be free as the 30 hours funding is used for all the sessions.
